• Deeply nourishes & anti-ageing: Macadamia oil mimics the skin's own sebum, slowing visible ageing; squalane restores the skin's natural moisture barrier and fights free radical oxidative damage.

• Rebuilds collagen & elasticity: Lavender essential oil promotes collagen production and skin healing, while sandalwood oil replenishes moisture and increases elasticity.

  • Ingredients

Milk Thistle Oil, Squalane (Olive), Macadamia Oil, Calendula Infused Sunflower Oil, Lemon Peel, Carrot Seed Oil, Sandalwood and Lavender Essential Oils

  • What the ingredients do

Milk Thistle Oil: The active complex in milk thistle is silymarin, known for detoxifying, regenerating and stabilizing cell membranes. It has the ability to repair skin cells that have been damaged by  UVB radiation and minimize age spots and discoloration. When used in skin care products, it supports and promotes a healthy radiant complexion with exceptional age-defying properties. Milk Thistle oil also protects against collagen and elastin breakdown and improves circulation in the skin at a cellular level by fighting an aging reaction in the skin called glycation, making the skin more supple and elastic and slowing wrinkles. Silymarin stands out amongst the other topical antioxidants available today as its anti-inflammatory and non-comedogenic properties help calm breakouts and its ability to control oil production, making it great for acne prone skin.

Squalane (Olive): Humans are born with Squalene in their skin. The skin’s sebaceous glands contain around 12% Squalene, forming part of our skin’s natural protective barrier that keeps the moisture in, and bacteria out. However, from the age of around 25, the skin’s Squalene levels begin to deplete, making it susceptible to dryness, dehydration and premature ageing. While many commercially available Squalene is sourced from shark liver, at Bodhi Tree we use the plant-based Olive Squalane, with the same properties for the skin. Squalane is nature’s replacement for the human skin’s squalene, protecting it from moisture loss and environmental toxins. Research studies have shown that squalane is critical in reducing free radical oxidative damage to the skin. A proven SPF booster, it removes the cell damaging effects of free radicals caused by UV exposure that causes premature ageing. Squalane shows several advantages for skin tissues, delivering key actives into the deeper layers of the skin, without leaving a greasy feel to it.

Macadamia Oil: The high concentration of palmitoleic acid in macadamia oil causes products containing it to mimic human sebum, making it beneficial for slowing down the ageing of the skin. Moreover, macadamia oil easily penetrates, softens, and influences the condition and proper functioning of the skin. It also enhances the absorption of vitamin C by the skin. It prevents or reduces dryness, irritation, and skin lacerations.

Calendula Infused Sunflower Oil: Calendula is an incredible flower that has been used for centuries by many cultures and traditions, including Ayurveda and traditional Chinese medicine. It has anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties and can soothe skin inflammation that is triggered due to acne, sunburn, rosacea, psoriasis, eczema, or even a breakdown of collagen. Calendula contains flavonoids, saponins and triterpenoids, which are known to have an anti-inflammatory effect. Ideal for sensitive, oily, and acne-prone skin, it can help to banish dark spots, blemishes, acne, and acne scars. Its ability to increase blood flow and oxygen to the skin results in the skin function at its healthiest, restoring its elasticity.

Lemon Peel: Lemon peels have been known to contain bioactive compounds that can benefit skin health. It is high in antioxidants that can stave off signs of aging caused by UV exposure. Lemon peel bioferment can help eliminate the formation of dark spots and uneven skin tone. It helps to reduce free radicals formed by the sun, pollution, and heat and is said to have both anti-tyrosinase and antioxidant activity.

Carrot Seed Oil: The benefits of carrot seed oil include antifungal, antibacterial qualities due to the bioflavonoids it contains. Because of its high antioxidant content, carrot seed oil can repair dry and damaged skin and can offer some sun protection.

Sandalwood essential oil: Sandalwood oil contains antioxidants that help maintain the buoyancy and structure of the skin cells. It also reduces dryness and replenishes the moisture in skin, increasing elasticity.

Lavender essential oil: One of the best and most versatile of all essential oils for skin, lavender calms, soothes, nourishes, repairs, treats, detoxifies, and rebuilds collagen while promoting healing and overall skin health. Its small molecular structure helps it penetrate deep into the skin.
